FREE ELECTRICAL VISUAL SAFETY CHECK

ISYSTEMS ELECTRICAL, are now offering free visual electrical safety checks to homeowners in North Norfolk. We will send an engineer out to your house to run through a series of visual checks which are vitally important for the electrical safety in your home.

A visual inspection is a basic check to identify any visible signs of defects, damage or deterioration. No circuit testing will be undertaken, so your electrics will likely remain on during the inspection. The electrician will need to be given access to all of the rooms in your home. The report will typically take around 30 minutes to 1 hour to complete depending on the size of the property. Notes will be taken by the electrician as part of the visual inspection and a Visual Inspection Report (VIR) will be issued to the home owner at the end. The Visual Inspection report will record a number of observations and recommendations and provide an overall summary of the

condition of the installation.

Below are things will we check during the visit:

  • Consumer Unit (main fuse board)
  • Sockets
  • Plugs
  • Light fittings
  • Light switches
  • Electrical cables or leads
  • Earthing and bonding
  • Extension leads
  • Kitchen safety
  • Bathroom safety
  • Signs of wear and tear
  • Visible signs of burning/scorching
  • RCD protection around the home

Fuse Board

Fuse boards are the brains of your home electrical system, which is why it is important to make sure they are kept up to date and to regulations. It is important now a days to make sure your circuits are RCD protected especially where you have electrics in bathrooms or outside locations.

Power & Lighting Circuits

It is always important to keep an eye on your lighting / sockets wiring and fixtures. It is important to check that these things are not damaged, and that they all operate as they should. Things we should also look for is no blackness or scorch marks, or no damaged or frayed leads.

Earthing & Bonding

The earthing in your property is the most important safety feature in your home. Ensuring this is properly in place and maintained is crucial for your safety. It is also very important to make sure any external services i.e (water, gas, oil) supplies are properly bonded in the correct size cabling which will reduce the risk in the event of electric shock.
